Danish National Gallery (Copenhagen)

The Danish National Gallery, or National Museum of Art (SMK), is the country's largest museum of fine arts. It is the main museum of fine arts in Denmark. Its collection is dedicated to the art of Denmark and the whole world: the art of Western Europe after the 14th century is represented especially well. The museum exhibits include Mantegna, Titian, Rubens, Guisbrechts, Abilgard, Hammershoe, Willumsen, Nolde, Jorn, Lemmerz, as well as an excellent collection of Danish Golden Age artists, including Eckersberg and Kobke, as well as Picasso's works and the world-famous collection of works by Henri Matisse.

This museum is located in central Copenhagen next to Rosenborg Palace, just five minutes from Norreport Station.

It is a treasury in which the masterpieces of the greatest world artists are stored. This art collection is made up of private collections of Danish kings, but today it belongs to the Danish people. It contains a completely unique collection of works of Danish and Scandinavian art in general, as well as a world-famous collection of French art.

The presence of such a rich selection of works by French masters in the Danish Museum of Art is already surprising in itself. This exhibition features works by prominent artists of this period, such as Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and Andre Derain, who put forward and embody new ideas about what contemporary art can be.

Discover the world of art from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day in all its immense diversity and rapid development. This exhibition provides an insight into the latest history of fine art, from expressionism and surrealism to the latest works of contemporary art created by artists Per Kirkeby, Dan Vo and Ursula Reuters Christiansen.

Exhibition of European Fine Art XIV-XVIII centuries is a selection of works from private royal collections. Here you can see the works of some of the largest European artists from the Middle Ages to the Enlightenment. In particular, famous names such as Andrea Mantegna, Lucas Cranach Sr. and Rembrandt van Rijn are also represented here.

A family with children can visit a workshop for children to try their hand using paints, brushes and glue guns. Adults can also try their hand at painting by visiting the museum's drawing room.
