Claude Oscar Monet - The complete works

French Impressionism founder & most influential painter Oscar-Claude Monet first saw daylight on 14 November 1840 in Paris, France. He was two Parisians’ second child, Claude Adolphe & Louise Justine Aubrée, a singer. Although he underwent Catholic baptism, while being one year old child, he eventually converted to atheism.

Artist career attracted renowned painter from early age, therefore he enrolled himself Le Havre school of arts 1851. His friends & acquaintances, as well as many local knew, appreciated his charcoal caricatures that he sold by modest price - around 10 franks.  

In 1883 he moved to Giverny, where he bought house, launched landscaping project that involved many little ponds with lilies. Water lilies later became his work center remained so for next 20 years.

Finished work was not favorably accepted by critics. Nevertheless, it is currently considered among his monumental & cornerstone works.

“The Luncheon on the Grass” also known as “Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe” is large oil canvas that was created during two years (1862–1863) period. It is controversial painting with many facts about it unknown. For instance, art critics still are not sure about location, as well as why part of work look almost unfinished.
